With the introduction of VIS on 14 November 2013, all Schengen visa applicants must submit biometric identifiers – fingerprints of all ten fingers and a photograph – when filing an application. A photograph of the applicant is also taken at the Visa Application Centre. Biometric identifiers are stored in a common “Visa Information System” (VIS) database. VIS is an information system that helps Schengen States to share visa application data. More information is available at: ec.europa.eu/dgs/home-affairs/what-we-do/policies/borders-and-visas/visa-information-system/index_en.htm

Information on a visa application and decision can only be given to the applicant. The signer of an invitation is not a visa applicant. If the applicant grants a proxy to the signer of an invitation or some other person, the person named in the proxy can be given the same information as the applicant. A proxy is a free-form document which must indicate the names of the applicant and the person receiving the proxy, and it must be signed by the applicant.
The Thai authorities handle visas to Thailand and residence permits for Thailand.
